The Pantone Matching System (PMS) provides a common color language across a variety of industries, such as printing and the manufacture of colored paint, fabric and plastics. With PMS as its guiding system, Pantone offers products for color inspiration, specification and control, such as color standard guides, chips and swatches; design software; color capture devices; and monitor and printer calibration systems.
Pantone’s origins can be traced to a commercial printing company operating in New York City in the 1950s. The company systematized and simplified their pigments and colored inks, and “Pantone” was born. Pantone joined the Danaher portfolio in 2012, and has continued to dominate the field of color, innovating its products and expanding into new markets such as premium paints and lifestyle products. The design world eagerly anticipates Pantone’s annual color trend and intelligence forecasts. The company recently launched Pantone Studio, a mobile app that provides a connected digital workspace using the language of Pantone.
